Hospital
Contract Management System
The
complexity of hospital contracting,
generated by the increasing price
competitive pressures of the healthcare
marketplace, presents a significant
challenge to administrators responsible
for managing these relationships. As the
contracts become more specific, taking
into account such critical factors as
patient case-mix, managers are challenged
with the task to accurately execute,
trend, and evaluate these contracts to
most benefit their organizations.
To
accomplish this, CFOs and contract
administrators require key information at
their fingertips for timely management
and analysis of contract information.
Furthermore, insight into competitor
costs and utilization provide a
significant tactical advantage when in
active contract negotiation.
HCA's Hospital
Contract Management System (HCMS©) utilizes
a powerful relational database to report
and analyze hospital contracts. Its three
modules offer users instant hospital
contract information, thereby
facilitating informed decision making in
the negotiation/re-negotiation and
effective administration of hospital
contracts.

Module 1
This module captures, stores, and
analyzes customer hospital contract data
such as contracted services, rates, and
effective dates. The multiple on-screen
views and standard reports allow managers
to closely monitor each hospital
contract. Built-in analysis provides
standardized statistical comparisons of
multiple hospital contracts across like
rate units and service categories. A
contract renewal monitor reviews the
status of each contract and flags those
that are up for renewal.
Module 2
This module integrates Hospital Cost
Report Data from the Centers
For Medicare & Medicaid Studies (CMS),
allowing the comparison of each customer
hospital to the cost, revenue and
utilization profiles from any hospital in
the U.S.
Module 3
This module offers users the ability to
model and compare various contract
scenarios based on customer actual
utilization patterns using rule-based
"What If" logic. Managers then
apply this new knowledge during the
contract negotiating process.
